Attending the Interview 1. A Guide!
When attending your next interview some of the following guidelines and hints may be of use to you. They will not all apply in every interview situation, however there are a number of the tips that will and can be used time and time again.
Meeting people in an interview situation can be stressful; the surroundings are alien, the organisation a virtual unknown and you are there to sell your skills, however remember that an Interview is a two way process and this is equally an opportunity for the prospective employer to impress you and make you want to work for their organisation.
The Role
Ensure the role fits your experience and interests and you know as much about the dynamics of it as possible. If you are unsure or uncertain about the role this will show throughout the interview.
The Company
Preparation is the key, as well as researching the role itself it is vital you investigate the organisation.
What is the size and structure of the company?
How many employees do they have?
The future plans of the company?
What product or service do they specialise in?
Who are the main competitors and how does the organisation compare with them?
There are some excellent sources of information available, the Internet, promotional literature and annual reports can be your starting point.
