Take me home

1. Introduction

Having worked in England for the last 10 years plus and my ever closer wedding drawing nearer and nearer, it has hightened my desire to return to Scotland and seek an alternative career back where I belong.

Having graduated in Hotel Management off I went to seek my destiny with a range of jobs in the Hotel Industry.

For me, my speciality was always going to lie in the Marketing side of things, mainly because of my enormous capacity to socialise and network.

I have been lucky to have worked with some of the best Groups of Hotels in the UK and I am currently a Marketing Manager with a Chain of international Hotels and I have not had to seek the services of any outside organisation as I always seemed to be in the right place at the right time making the right noises.

My job is excellent as I have a very varied and challenging work schedule that allows me to travel a lot and meet people form all walks of life and cultures. To a certain extend it is difficult to know what type of job I would do if I left the Hospitality Industry.

Fulfilling you may think ! There has always been a desire for me to come back to Scotland and enjoy my career, whether it still be working for a large multi-national or perhaps setting up on my own.

2. Where do I start?

I have a friend who works for a Global Recruitment Organisation in Edinburgh and he has been able to give me a little direction, however I am aware that it may not be quite so easy finding the challenging role I desire, along with the rewarding salary and package I currently enjoy.

Sometimes you need to look at the bigger picture! What's in it for me!

Online recruitment seems to be everywhere at the moment and as an Organisation we have and currently still do use this method of recruitment and I see that as being a useful tool for myself, enabling me to "sell my skills" to the highest bidder on line, although the traditional route will also be used.

Online recruitment is also good for the anonymity angle, as it lets you dip your toe in the job market without letting others know you are looking.

Although not actively looking at the moment, (I think the wedding is enough to be going on with) there will be a time in the next year or so that I will definitely be looking to move back to Scotland, however, like so many "Ex-Pats" the difficulty is finding the right job.

With the assistance of Recruitment Firms, On-line Recruitment Websites and my natural flair for networking I am sure that before long I will be where I belong…………………… Scotland!
